For scanning and removing existing spyware samples, Spybot caught five out of eight, missing Compare-Prices.zip, Clickpix, and JustFindIt toolbar. In exclusive testing by CNET Labs, Spybot's active shields identified and blocked five out of eight spyware samples we attempted to install, missing Compare-Prices.zip, Clickpix, and MarketScore. That said, overall, Spybot fell from number one a few years ago to just below average among the antispyware apps we tested. To achieve that speed, Spybot at times used up to 50 percent of our system's resources, but did so for a significantly shorter amount of time than other products we tested. Spybot - Search and Destroy is very fast, scanning our entire laptop within several minutes. Of all the antispyware apps we tested, Spybot is one of the few to include a free file shredder, which means Spybot can overwrite deleted spyware with 1s and 0s, so the deleted file is truly removed from your system. We also like the ability to apply various skins, but it's the tools that impressed the most. Spybot continues to rival paid antispyware products by offering a number of features not found elsewhere, such as its unparalleled language support. The Advanced menu offers more left-hand navigation options, such as language settings, skins, a scheduler, exclusion lists, tools such as a data shredder, Internet Explorer browser tweaks, and a list of applications that have registered an uninstaller with your system (making it easy to remove these applications). Default mode consists primarily of large buttons for Check for Problems, Recovery (in case you remove something that's important to a program you want to keep), and Search for Updates, with a left-hand navigation option to immunize your system against future installs of known spyware. There still are two interfaces within Spybot, the default mode and advanced mode. It's a small touch, and we'd like it if other vendors reminded us as well. On the other hand, Sypbot is an easy-to-use app that is unlikely to give you any real headaches. We like that Spybot still warns upon start-up that removing adware and spyware could disable software on our system. Unfortunately, our test e-mail went unanswered. Version 1.4 of Spybot Search and Destroy includes a tutorial and an in-program help file. In the end, however, Spybot left 180 Search Assistant, Bookedspace, eXact Searchbar, and Search Exe running on our system. Second, after restart, the second scan took almost twice as long as the first. First, Search and Destroy required that we restart in order to remove spyware programs that reinstall themselves. Formerly one of the best antispyware programs available, Spybot Search and Destroy performed the worst in our tests. Unfortunately, the scan was not very accurate. In our tests, Search and Destroy was lightning fast, requiring only 7 minutes, 19 seconds to scan our test system. It's the extras within Spybot that initially won us over. Protection not found in other antispyware software includes displaying your windows Hosts file (often the target for phishing scams), a built-in data shredder, and a fairly long list of opt-out addresses so that you can stop getting spam. A highly configurable advanced-mode interface is available for power users who like to schedule their scans (using Windows Task Manager), manage cookies, add skins, and even customize Spybot's operation, such as deciding whether to launch at start, to log files, or to display warnings. Spybot has an easy-to-use interface: From the main window, you can scan your system for spyware, update the program, and recover your system to a previous state, if needed, thanks to the backup copies that Search and Destroy makes of everything it changes. Simply select your language preference, and you're ready to go. With its support of more than 30 different languages, Spybot maintains wide international appeal.Īfter downloading the 4.8MB file, installation is smooth. That said, Spybot's default mode is easy to use for most home users, and its advanced mode offers features that will please most high-end users. Of the antispyware software tested by, however, Spybot tested dead last, leaving behind several known pests, but it finished near the middle in overall performance. Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4 is a free, fast, proactive antispyware app, and it doesn't require you to provide an e-mail address or any other information about yourself.

Here is the link for TechPowerUp GPU-Z with ROG skin if you'd like to install it, open it twice and click the sensors tab on one. Here are the scores of the ROG Strix 1070 in silent mode and overclocked with the settings above, the ROG Strix 1070 in silent mode shows a max voltage of 1.062V and max temp of 67☌. Some gpu's may be able to overclock a little more and some a little less so don't be discouraged if you have to lower your overclock a little. The GPU Boost Clock doesn't stay at a constant overclock like previous gpu's, mine goes as low as 2000MHz and at times hits 2068MHz but stayed mainly at 2012MHz - 2038MHz, the Memory Clock does stay constant and runs at 9333MHz. Be sure to click Apply if you make any changes. If it crashes with the " Nvidia display driver has stopped responding", you'll need to back down the GPU Boost Clock a notch and run it until it passes, if you get artifacting (flashing dots and triangles) you'll have to back down the Memory Clock until the artifacting stops. Now open up the Unigine Valley GPU stress testing program, I set the resolution to 2560 x 1440, ultra settings with no antialiasing, then click Benchmark and let it run. Move the little red boxes with your mouse to your desired temp and fan speed, 60 at the bottom is the temp and on the left is the fan speed 70%. Under Fan Speed select " User Define" then click the little gear to the right and it shows this below. To keep your ROG Strix 1070 as cool as possible you'll want to set a fan curve, 70% is the highest it will go and I have mine set to be running at 70% at 60☌. These settings are for the ROG Strix 1070 OC, if you have the standard ROG Strix 1070 you should be able to go a little higher with the GPU Boost Clock. Slide the GPU Voltage all the way to the right until it shows 100 and slide the Power Target all the way to the right until it shows 120, under GPU Boost Clock select manual and slide it to +33MHZ until it shows 1868MHz, then slide the Memory Clock to +1334MHz until it shows 9342MHz and click Apply. Now click Home at the top then click professional mode at the bottom right and it looks like this below. Simply start GPU Tweak before playing any game. I disabled the GPU Tweak II Startup and Monitor Startup as it only needs to be running while playing games. To do this click the gear at the top right shown in red and check the box, also check "Apply settings each time GPU Tweak starts", this will keep your overclock settings and apply them when you start GPU Tweak. You'll have to enable the "Overclocking range enhancement" to get more out of the memory as it overclocks very far. Overclocking your gpu can take a little time but to get your gpu overclocked quickly you can try my settings and see how they work for you. You will also need a gpu stress testing program and Unigine Valley I find is a good program to use, click the free download. You will need a gpu overclocking tool and GPU Tweak II is a good one to use, here is a link to get the latest version. Select your operating system then click Utilities, as of now v1.3.1.2 is the latest version. If you're looking to push your ROG Strix GTX 1070 to new heights, Nate152 is a keen contributor in the ROG forum who has prepared a quick guide to get you on your way to extra ultra performance.įor those of you that have an ROG Strix GTX 1070 and are new to overclocking, here is a little guide that will have it running at it's maximum performance. |
